Paloma Nikolic is excited to join the SFBA Chapter of the US National Committee for UN Women as the Board of Directors Secretary and as the Global Voices Film Festival Planning Committee Co-Chair. She is currently working at Altshuler Berzon LLP, a public interest law firm in San Francisco, which specializes in class action lawsuits relating to discrimination based on race, age, sex, or gender presentation. Paloma’s passion for social justice and women’s empowerment informs her life professionally, socially, and academically. Paloma has an extensive event planning background, including a co-presidency of the Social Programming Board at her alma mater, Mount Holyoke College. Paloma recently graduated from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, where she earned her B.A. in International Relations with a focus on International Ethics, and a Minor in Geology.

Amira Turazzi serves as co-Chair of the Film Festival Committee.  Recently relocated from Italy to San Francisco, Amira currently works as a managing editor for a Bay Area tech company.  With a background in communications and a Masters in Journalism, Amira’s experience spans multiple forms of media, including print, online and radio. Her interest in human rights brought her to conduct research in social media advocacy campaigns and to publish articles about gender equality. Other work and volunteer experience includes event management and multiple international projects and placements.
